"Full Moon Firesides" are relaxed, focused evenings of conversation, held on the full moon each month at the Melrose Convent & Bluestone Farm. This ever-changing calendar recognizes the moon's phases, and allows the Firesides to be held on different days of the week, which we hope enables more people to join us!
We begin with a half hour of drumming, then together explore what it means to be a powerful, responsible species on Earth. Our activities vary: sometimes we'll watch a film and reflect on how its message impacts our lives, other times we may discuss our visions for the future, or talk about ways we can individually and collectively transition to a more sustainable way of living.
At recent Firesides, we've been learning about the Transition Town movement, which is comprised of local, engaged communities seeking to face, head-on, the challenges of climate change and "peak oil." Our interest in these issues is framed by the important work of the late Thomas Berry, his colleague Brian Swimme, and our dear friend Sister Miriam MacGillis, of Genesis Farm.
We meet from 6:30-8:30 pm. Join us for any part of any evening — or come to everything! If you're interested, e-mail us to have your name added to our e-mail notification list.
